EXERCISE 1: "The Political Spectrum"
Take the World's
Shortest Political Quiz, and determine your own place on the
political spectrum. What were your results? Are you right-wing or left-wing? A libertarian or a statist (socialist)? A conservative, a moderate, or a liberal? In your brief, identify your own position, and--using the economic theories and philosophy of Marx, Smith, Galbraith, and Friedman that we have studied in class--defend the reasons why you were place where you were on the political/economic spectrum: Do you believe the free market is absolutely self-correcting, or do you support government attempts to resolve market failures such as externalities and poverty? Do you believe security is more important or freedom? |
