CLASSROOM RULES
We will be on the BRD system in
this classroom:
-
Be Prepared
-
Respect Others
-
Don't Ask
PREPARATION
-
Be on
time
- Bring What You Need
Everyday: your paper, pencil, pens, laptop, and whatever else
you need --books, handouts, etc..-but most importantly your passion and your
brain. I am intolerant of sleepers and lazy students.
- A WORKING computer is REQUIRED in this class at all times.
- Come to class having
done your homework and reading
- Presentations,
Tests and quizzes will be given on the day they are assigned. Asking
to postpone a test or quiz will not work unless there are extraordinary
circumstances. Coming into class on the day of the test/quiz and saying
“Gee, I can't take this because I had a.........” is not a good technique.
Better: tell me in advance, as soon as you know that you will have the
conflict.
- Progress Reports, Conduct Reports,
Academic Reviews will be sent home!
- For every grade above a 90% and every
grade below a 70% (including missed assignments).
RESPECT
- Respect other
people's belongings-
- Do not touch other
students' books, papers, notes, without their approval.
- Do not use books in the
class that are not yours.
- Do not plagiarize the
work of other students, authors, or the internet.
- Respect other
people's feelings- This is very important to me. Do not ridicule
others indirectly or directly.
- No
Inconsiderate behavior. No “Shut Ups”, put downs, or jokes at the
expense of others.
- Respect me-Don't
talk while I'm talking. I respect each and every one of you- I expect the
same from you. I will be happy to listen to everything you have to say-just
be patient.
- Have an open mind
even though you may have an opinion which is strongly opposed to mine or
another student's, listen before arguing. Defensiveness is not always
necessary and is sometimes a clue to the weakness of your argument.
-
Respect Our Time
-
LATE IS LATE. You have a 60 second grace
period, based on the clock in the classroom. Be in your seat once it
reaches the next minute you are late and will be reported as such.
-
Do not to be on the internet unless given
specific permission and instructions
-
Email is CLOSED after 5 minute “tech time”.
-
NO
PRINTING without permission. NO PRINTING of homework in class the day an
assignment is due.
DON'T ASK
- What was the assignment?
- This is all posted online!!
- Can I go to the bathroom?
- Enter / Leave the room quietly so as not to disturb the learning in
process.
- When is the period over?
- when the bell rings and not before
- Does this count?
- Can you curve this?
- Can we have extra credit?
- What is my grade?
*Addendum: The teacher has the right to
add rules to this list throughout the school year.
