The Story

A bizarre vehicle is being pulled through the desert by a quartet of camels, driven by a feral man wrapped in a bizarre mixture of the savage and the civilized. Welcome to the world after nuclear armageddon. The setting is the future; close enough to the present that the radioactive scraps of the past are still being salvaged from the ruins, yet distant enough for a new society to have taken shape in place of the old one. The bombs may have fallen and world civilization may have utterly collapsed, but in isolated pockets of the contaminated wastelands mankind has started a new game with a new set of rules.
The driver of the camels is Max, former cop, now a nomad and free-lance soldier of fortune. After his vehicle is stolen and he is left in the desert to die, Max somehow makes his way to Bartertown, a violent, chaotic dystopia hammered together out of spare parts. Anything--and anybody--can be bought, sold, or traded in Bartertown. The city is supervised by a scurrilous fat man called the Collector, and ruled by an imperious queen named Auntie Entity. Auntie lives in a skeletal throneroom perched high over the heads of the bustling masses, issuing decrees and passing judgement on the citizens of Bartertown. Her goons, led by the musclebound Ironbar, enforce the law and dispense swift, harsh justice.
However, in spite of apparently absolute power, Auntie has a problem. Bartertown is powered by a unique energy source. In caverns deep beneath the city, in a place called Underworld, countless pigs live, eat, and defecate. The electricity needed to light Bartertown is generated from the methane produced by their waste products. Underworld, however, is not controlled by Auntie; it is run by Master/Blaster. Master/Blaster is actually two people: Blaster--a giant hulk of a man in an iron mask--and Master--a dwarf who rides in a steel harness on Blaster’s shoulders. Master is the brains, Blaster is the brawn, and so long as the two function as unit, Auntie cannot have complete dominion over Bartertown.
Enter Max. This unbeatable warrior from the wasteland appears to be the answer to Auntie’s prayers, and a deal is soon struck. In exchange for the return of his property, Max will enter the arena of combat, Thunderdome, and contend with Blaster for control of Bartertown. The only rule: Two Men Enter, One Man Leaves.
