ACADEMIC EXPECTATIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
In this course, you will be expected to
BASIC RULES
A unit assignment sheet will posted in the classroom, on Crawfordsworld.com, and Edline in advance. If you are absent, please look on one of these sites to keep up with assignments.
All work is due on the assigned date. Homework is
due at the beginning of class. Late
penalties (one letter grade per day) will be incurred if work is not
turned in on time.
Inappropriate use of classroom time (inappropriate use of laptops, failure to bring appropriate classroom material to class when assigned, or working on assigments from other courses) will constitute a deduction of 2 points from your overall point total.
YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO USE CALCULATORS IN THIS CLASS.
EXTRA HELP
My EXTRA HELP SESSIONS are during G BLOCK on the DECK; and in AYE during A, B, or D block or after school by appointment. You will be required to bring your study guide to extra help sessions.
MAKE-UP POLICY
All tests are to be made up within two days of the absence per school policy, unless otherwise arranged with me.
It is the responsibility of the student to make arrangements with me to make up all missed work. Make-up tests and quizzes are administered in academic detention. Please see me as soon as possible to schedule a convenient time for both of us to make up tests or assigned quizzes.
If you are unexcused absent or fail to make up an assignment or test by the deadline, the missed assignment or test will count as a zero.
Videos shown in class are also available online. If you are absent during a video, you will be expected to view the videos on your own.
You are allowed to postpone one test per semester until the following day. If you choose to postpone a test you must tell me or email me at least one hour before the test. The make-up test must be taken the next school day in academic detention or during a mutually agreed upon time.
All makeup tests will cover the same material as the original test, but will consist of different multiple choice and essay questions. Your grade on the makeup will be reported to you, but to go over your makeup in detail please schedule an appointment with me or stop by during extra help.
GRADES
You will be graded on the basis of your performance on homework assignments, quizzes, tests, simulations, and a final examination.
Your average is simply be the percentage derived from the points you have earned divided by the total points possible over the course of the mid-term and semester marking periods.
All of test and quiz scores will be reported to you, and therefore you are responsible for keeping track of your average in this course.
It is inappropriate to use class time to discuss your average with me or your peers; please schedule an appointment with me or stop by during extra help to discuss your average with me in private.
Remember that you are not just responsible for keeping track of your grade in this course, you are also responsible for your actual grade in this course.

ASSIGNMENTS
You will be assigned homework on a weekly basis.
Homework will consist of reading assignments for classroom discussion, writing assignments from chapter review questions, online articles, and videos presented in class, and chapters from your study guide.
Study Guide Assignments
All provisions of the Berkeley Honor Code apply to homework assignments.
All writing assignments will be turned at the beginning of the class period on the assigned day.
Approximately once a week the class will be given a pop quiz concerning points brought up in lectures, reading assignments, or current events.
Every video shown will be the subject of a quiz covering the basic themes and topics of the film.
Quizzes will be 6 to 12 questions in multiple choice or fill in the blank format.
There are NO makeup quizzes for in-class quizzes; a missed in-class quiz is NOT counted for the purposes of the semester average.
Quizzes will be scored out of 6 to 12 possible points.
There will be one test per unit as listed in the schedule.
Each Chapter Test will consist of 40 multiple choice questions worth 1 point each; and one short essay question worth 10 points. Chapter tests will take approximately one class period to complete and will be scored out of 50 possible points.
YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO USE CALCULATORS ON TESTS.
We will go over all the questions on every test the following academic day.
All tests will kept on file with the instructor; to go over your test in detail on an individual basis please schedule an appointment with or stop by during extra help.
ALL TESTS WILL BE CUMULATIVE.
Chapter tests will be scored out of 50 possible points.
The Final Examination will approximate an actual AP Examination. The Final Exam will consist of 60 multiple choice questions to be completed in 70 minutes, and 3 essay questions scored out of 10 points each to be completed in 60 minutes. The Final Exam will be given during the scheduled period during exam week.
THE FINAL EXAM WILL BE CUMULATIVE.
The Final Examination will be counted as 25% of your final Semester average as per school policy.
THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO EXTRA CREDIT IN THIS COURSE!
